Positively Impacting Lives

World Vision

Bradford began working with World Vision in 2016 to improve health and hygiene conditions in communities around the world.
Bradford began working with World Vision in 2016 to improve community health and hygiene conditions worldwide. Our initial efforts focused on shipping bar soap to communities recovering from natural disasters, including hurricanes and earthquakes. We have since expanded the program to include 400,000 lbs of soap base shipped annually to Somalia, Zambia, and Burundi (approximately 1.6 million bars).

The women's groups in these communities reform the soap into bars. They use the soap for their families and sell the balance locally to help supplement their income. It has created stronger connections between the women, and there has been a noticeable decrease in disease and illness where the soap is distributed. Doctors who visit the communities now have shorter lines at the health clinics, enabling them to visit more communities. The donations have created a ripple effect that empowers women, improves income, and contributes to improved health and hygiene.

Eco-Soap Bank

Through Eco-Soap Bank, Bradford has donated soap to those in need in Cambodia, Sierra Leone, Nepal and South Africa. Our donations of over 250,000 lbs of soap have reached 1.4 million adults and children in schools, healthcare clinics, and hospitals on the pandemic's front lines. We are proud to contribute to such a fantastic organization and help vulnerable communities worldwide.

In 2021, Bradford donated 25,600 bars of soap through Eco-Soap Bank to Afghan refugees arriving in the United States. We are proud to contribute to such an amazing organization, and to help vulnerable communities here at home and around the world.

Eco-Soap Bank is a global nonprofit organization that employs 154 women in 13 developing countries. In partnership with Soap Aid, they recycle leftover soap and distribute it to families and children to reduce disease. Today, the organization has reached 6.4 million people needing soap and hygiene education.

Amenity Aid

Some of Bradford's most important work is right here at home through Amenity Aid. Amenity Aid works tirelessly to eliminate hygiene poverty in Rhode Island. Since 2015, Bradford has been proud to support its efforts with bar soap donations that are now distributed to over 50 local organizations.

Amenity Aid collects, purchases, and distributes personal care products such as soap, feminine care, shampoo, and toothbrushes to help individuals and families most in need throughout Rhode Island. Health and hygiene products are not covered under SNAP benefits, so many households struggle to buy enough products to meet their needs. When hygiene products are out of stock, individuals, and families seeking assistance forgo toiletries essential to good health and wellness. Amenity Aid was founded in 2013, donating approximately 3,000 products. They have grown rapidly and now donate over 85,000 products per year to over nine organizations, and over 50 collaborator organizations.

Save the Bay

Water conservation and preservation is core to Bradford's DNA. We purposely don't manufacture products that are predominantly water because it adds to packaging waste, carbon footprint, preservatives, and water waste. Supporting Save the Bay is another way we support the 400 miles of coastline in Rhode Island and beautiful Narragansett Bay.

Save the Bay was established in 1970 with the mission to protect and improve Narragansett Bay. Their vision is a fully swimmable, fishable, healthy Narragansett Bay, accessible to all and globally recognized as a natural treasure. Bradford has been a member since 2018

The annual Save the Bay Swim is the most recognized Save The Bay event and fundraiser. Over 500 swimmers and nearly 200 kayakers traverse 1.7 miles across Narragansett Bay to raise money and awareness for Save The Bay. Bradford learned that the swimmers and boaters had no convenient way to wash off after the arduous swim, so we built custom showers to rinse off after the race. Now they can enjoy the post-race party without being covered in salt and seaweed. We are happy to help - after all, bathing is our specialty! As part of the event, Bradford hands out free soap to the swimmers to enjoy at home. Great job to everyone who raises money and completes the challenging swim!

Community Cleanup

Keeping our beautiful rivers and bays clean, starts with cleaning up garbage on land that could end up in our waterways. Bradford hosts several events throughout the year to help with that effort.

The Bradford team engages in several cleanup events on our campus and in our community. Our historic building, the Queen of the Valley Mill, is nestled on the edge of the Pawtuxet river. By keeping our campus clean, we are able to make sure the river stays clean too. We also engage in beach cleanups that protect the bay, and keeps them clean for local families to enjoy.
