Food and Drug Administration

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is an agency of the United States Department of Health and Human Services.

What do they do?

The FDA is responsible for protecting and promoting public health through the regulation and supervision of a variety of products and devices.

If you are marketing personal care products in the following categories, you need to work with an FDA registered manufacturer like Bradford:

  • Anti-acne
  • Anti-bacterial
  • Anti-itch
  • Moisturizing

The Results

Since 1974, Bradford has been registered with the FDA to manufacture Over-The-Counter (OTC) products. The registration confirms that Bradford is compliant with the Good Manufacturing Practices and labeling requirements needed for OTC claims.

Rainforest Alliance

The Rainforest Alliance is an international nonprofit organization with over 25 years' experience in the development and promotion of sustainable standards in farming, forestry and tourism. These standards protect the environment and promote the well-being of workers, their families and their communities.

What do they do?

The Rainforest Alliance works to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices and consumer behavior. International certification bodies audit farms to the standard of the Sustainable Agriculture Network (SAN) for a broad range of ingredients. To address the issues surrounding palm oil production, such as deforestation of rainforests and the destruction of orangutan habitats, the SAN standard was adapted for palm oil, an ingredient used in soaps and other personal care products. It is a solution that is affordable and socially responsible.

GMPc

Good Manufacturing Practice Certification (GMPc) is an FDA quality control and assurance program that is designed to ensure the production of products that meet the FDA's quality standards and requirements. The standards are not specific to any one industry, but rather general principles to follow when manufacturing any product that comes under the jurisdiction of the FDA.

What do they do?

GMPc requires companies to properly document things such as formulations, manufacturing processes, equipment utilized and any change made to the process. Each step needs to be documented and traceable. Every OTC product on the market must have a labeling system that would allow that product to be identified and recalled if necessary.

The Results

Bradford's registration with the FDA certifies that Good Manufacturing Practices are always followed and that Bradford stands by the quality of each and every product that we manufacture.

RSPO

The Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) is a not-for-profit association that promotes sustainable palm oil products through a standard certifying process, education and collaboration of stakeholders.

What do they do?

RSPO is dedicated to certifying palm oil plantations that do not contribute to the deforestation of rain forests or the destruction of orangutan habitats.

For more information on the RSPO certification requirements, please visit www.rspo.org
