Solid shampoos address these sustainability goals, and thanks to advancements in formulation technologies, they now perform as well as their liquid counterparts. Bradford has developed several core shampoo bases that brands can customize using their favorite actives, or we offer finished formulations that already include additives to attain specific hair attributes. SF-200-XT/ Soap Free

This mild soap-free base has a low pH and a creamy lather. This base formulation can be used as-is, or brands can add conditioners and additives to achieve desired attributes and efficacy. It is sulfate-free, paraben-free, and has less packaging and waste than traditional liquid formats.

DC-200-V /Combination Soap-Free & Soap

This SCI/soap combination base has a flash lather and cleanses deeper than our soap-free formulations. With a low pH of 6.5-7, it won't cause scalp irritation. This base formulation can be used as-is, or brands can add conditioners and additives to achieve desired attributes and efficacy. It is sulfate-free, paraben-free, and has less packaging and waste than traditional liquid formats.

This premium soap-free shampoo base contains additional conditioners in the soap noodles for targeted moisturization of hair and scalp. This formulation can be used as-is, or brands can add extra conditioners and additives to the finished bar to achieve desired attributes and efficacy. It is sulfate-free, paraben-free, and has less packaging and waste than traditional liquid formats.

Bradford’s scalp care shampoo bar is highly effective at cleansing, conditioning, and hydrating hair and scalp. The shampoo bar boasts a low pH of 5.5, is soap-free, and does not contain sulfates, parabens, or titanium dioxide. It has low water content, which means it requires less packaging, no preservatives, and it boasts a lower carbon footprint than traditional liquid shampoos. Our scalp care shampoo bar has a dense, creamy lather and is packed with conditioning ingredients. The result of using this microbiome-friendly bar is intense hydration for both hair and scalp.

Formulation Philosophy

For over 140 years, Bradford has excelled in the formulation and production of solid cleansing products focusing on bar soap. In 2017, we expanded our product offering to include a full range of personal care products that contain little or no water, use less packaging, have a lower carbon footprint, and require little or no preservatives. Our formulations are created with sustainability as a core attribute. Whenever possible, we use sustainably-sourced ingredients with an EWG-rating less than 3. Bradford strives to achieve zero waste by donating residual soap from the production process to charities in the United States and globally.
